Well another dirt season comes to an end. The new facility
has proven to be the best in Minnesota. Now its time to think about the upcoming
carpet season. Our first race will be Sunday November 9th. Our first big
event for the carpet season, the 724th Fundraiser race will be held on November
23rd. So make plans to attend. The Club donates all moneys taken in at this
event and donates to the Christmas fund for the 724th. Its our way of saying
thanks.

With summer winding down we come to our biggest race of the
year, The Chill on The Hill!! The race dates are October 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
Hopefully mother nature will be a little kinder to us this year. You can get
more info for this race
here and
pre-register here.

The Fair Frenzy race was another success this year. The next
event for LSRCC is the Monster Truck Mayhem. This is an all truck race, no
buggies allowed. This race will be held on September 20th, with Sunday the 21st
as a rain date. Please check our forums for additional info.

The season started off a little slow with mother nature
providing us with much needed rain. Now we\'re almost half way through the season
with our biggest race of the season upon us. The
Fair Frenzy
is only a few weeks away. This race is being held in conjunction with the
Minnesota Nitro Series. This will be a 3 day event starting on Friday August
1st. Please check our forums for more info.

It will be added to our event calendar shortly. The first race is tentatively

Our winter season started off with a bang! We had 76 cars for
the 724th Fundraiser race. What a great turnout! Lots of great racing, the
competition was awesome. This is also our first year with allowing the brushless
systems. They don\'t seem to be any quicker than the brushed system. In
fact you have to dramatically change your gearing. We\'ll see what the verdict
is at the end of the season. We all should thank Bonnie for manning the food
table all day. She did a great job. How can you beat taco in a bag?!?! Of course
we have our weekly club race, but stay tuned for info on the New Years Rumble in
January and the State On Road Champs in March.
09-29-07
Our final race is upon us. The Chill on
The hill 2007. Our official info thread in the forums can be viewed
here.
We also have a pre-registration thread going. If you plan on making it that
please sign up
here.

Time
for another update. The season has started, a little later than we and hoped.
Between getting the new track completed and mother nature dumping rain on us it
took a little longer than expected. The new facilities are awesome! Big pit
lane, longer drivers stand (and covered), heated/air conditioned scoring booth,
tons of lighting,... plus many more features!! We have some events scheduled for
the summer, Monster Truck Mayhem, Proctor Fair Frenzy, Chill on The Hill to name
a few. Please check our forums
for
more info.

We\'ll another winter racing season has
gone by. We had a great turnout all season long. Once again we have to
thank the 724th for the use of their facility, we wouldn\'t have a place to run
if it wasn\'t for them. We started the season off with the 724th Fundraiser
race. We ended up donating over $400 to the Family Fund for the 724th families.
The next big race was the News Years Rumble. We made it a two day event this
year to accommodate the large number of racers we expected. We weren\'t
disappointed! It was another tropical themed race, lots of people in shorts and
brightly colored shirts. Great racing all weekend, lots of fun! If you want to
check some pictures from that race, you can view them
here. The other big event that kind of fell into our laps was the World of
Wheels Race, better known as the Minnesota State On-road Champs. This was put
together on very short notice. We had to get everything lined up with the DECC
and World of Wheels car show. Not only that we had to haul all of our equipment
from the armory in Superior over to the DECC. Thanks goes out to all of you that
helped! We had a great turnout, just as many if not more then the News Years
Rumble race. Another great weekend of racing! Many thanks goes out to the people
that have made this last year of racing as successful as it was, thank you! You
can also see some pictures from the State Champs weekend
here
On to the summer season. As all of you
know we had to move our dirt track to a new location for this up coming race
season. The sad part s we lost our awesome view, great news is out track will be
bigger and better! The construction of the track has begun. Our new 40\' drivers
stand is in place and ready to be painted, track borders up also needing
painting. The lights and electrical are going in this weekend. This will be a
first rate race facility!! The race dates aren\'t set for the season, so make
sure to check the forums often.

Sorry about the lateness of this update.
To get you up to speed we have moved to our new web host. Things took a little
bit longer than anticipated but all worked out in the end. That gave us the
flexibility to add a
picture gallery for the club members to use
along with the ability to host video files. Along with the move we gained
tremendous amounts of bandwidth. When we had some busy months we would actually
exceed our bandwidth a few days before it would reset. No forum access for
days...arrghh!!! With our new host even with all the picture uploads, streaming
video...we've only used at max about 4% of our monthly bandwidth. Way nice!
On to the summer.....All I can say is
wow!!!! This summer was largest so far. Average car total was 60 cars a night!!!
Up from the 35 we used to get years ago. With a fairly dry summer, we only lost
2 race nights to mother nature, and of those 2 nights we at least got some
racing in before getting rained out. We had a good turnout for the
Heavy Metal Mayhem on September 17th. Everyone wanted to get some practice
before the big end of the year race......Chill
on The Hill! Chill on The Hill.........what a weekend! Racing starts on a
Friday night and doesn't stop until Sunday night. Many long nights were put in.
The Chill was held in conjunction with the Minnesota Traveling Points Series
which made that weekend the biggest race of the year. For the Chill race on
Saturday we had over 170+ cars entered. That only dropped slightly on Sunday for
the final race day for the Traveling Series, I believe the car count was in the
140's. There was some controversy about watering the track. It wasn't cold
that weekend, but windy. The dust was pretty bad, but letting the track dry out
and "blue groove" actually made the track have traction. We may have to try it
again this next summer.
Now I guess to the big news. We\'re
moving!!! Most of you know this. During the summer Spirit Mt. had a change of
heart. Apparently we didn't fit into their "big picture". As much as setting up
and tearing down the track every year sucked, the view was killer! But Spirit
Mt. misplacing our 3 year contract ; ) and some of the griping going on it was
for the best. So on to the good news. We're moving!!!!!! Our new home will be
not that much further away. Proctor Speedway/Fairgrounds will be it. Gary has
already secured a 5yr contract with the Fair board. Things are moving fast
...power has been run to the track, light poles positions have been marked and
will more then likely be put in before the snow flies! We may also have a bigger
and better drivers stand for next year. How does a 40' drivers stand sound? The
area we have set aside for just the track is 150'x200'. The potential is huge! I
BIG thank you goes out to Gary for getting
us into our new home. Definitely couldn't have done it without him! Also Dan
for finding a transportation for all the dirt Spirit Mt. gave us. Not to mention
all the other people that help tear down the track and move it to the Proctor
Track at the end of the year. Thank you!!!!
The end of racing in the summer doesn't
spell the end of racing for us. Our carpet season started November 12th and
kicked it off with the
724th Fundraiser. We had a great turnout! 71 cars for our first race
of the year. All proceeds of that event went to the Family Fund of the
troops. That money will help put on Family events for the troops, plus it is our
way to show our appreciation for letting us use their facility. This winter
looks as promising as last year. You can get our schedule of events
here or by checking our
event calendar. See you at the track!

We are currently moving our website to a new host.
Hopefully this will only take a few days to do. So please bear with us.

If haven't herd yet, the outdoor season has started!!!
We've had a pretty good turnout so far, with an average of 45 cars a night. We
expect the to go over the next few weeks. If your not sure what we're about
please swing by and check us out! Also I have available for download the video
that Venture North did on us late last summer. You can view that
here. For
our race schedule please go
here. Also
the Minnesota Traveling Series is under way, you can view the race schedule
here,
or their website
here. |
